Job Description
We are seeking meticulous consultant copyeditors to support our team in maintaining high-quality content across reports for a project totaling nearly 23,000 pages. This fully remote role demands the ability to manage tight deadlines while adhering strictly to style and brand guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Copyediting Across Formats: Edit and proofread documents in both Google Docs and Microsoft Word, ensuring clarity, accuracy, consistency, and impeccable grammar.
- Adherence to Style and Branding Guidelines: Maintain consistency with style and brand guidelines across all edited content.
- Self-Driven High Performance: Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects at once, rapidly adjusting to shifting priorities and urgent deadlines.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with project managers, content creators, and other copyeditors to ensure the final product meets quality standards and is on target to meet the deadline.
- Flexibility and Availability: Be available to edit documents on any day and at any time to meet evolving project needs for a minimum of 20 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent understanding of grammar, syntax, punctuation, and style
- Deep professional knowledge of CMOS
- Advanced proficiency in both Microsoft Word and Google Docs, such as using RegEx for find and replace queries
- Ability to edit across different content types and formats
- Ability to adhere strictly to established style and brand guidelines
- Strong problem-solving skills, especially in situations with tight deadlines
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Prior experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience copyediting K–12 education materials
- Intermediate Spanish fluency
- Working knowledge of TEA style and branding standards
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, education, or other relevant field
- At least 2–3 years of experience in copyediting, with a demonstrated ability to work flexibly and efficiently
Disqualifications
Due to contractual requirements, we cannot hire individuals for this project who:
- have worked for an educational materials developer or publisher within the past year;
- are located outside the United States; or
- are not authorized to work in the United States.
