Position Summary: Managing Editor for the HME News, portfolio of United Publications, a VGM Group company. HME News delivers industry news to the home medical equipment (HME) market through print and eMedia.

| Reporting Accountability: Editorial DirectorWorking Location: Remote – fully open to a remote candidate. Periodically (2+/- times a year) travel may be required to visit the main office in Yarmouth, ME |
| Work Hours Classification: Full-time, Monday – Friday; additional hours above and beyond 40 does occur based on the needs of the role. |
Responsibilities/Duties of the Job
An experienced reporter/writer who can produce well-researched, engaging copy on tight deadlines. The Managing Editor is part of a two-person editorial team. Duties include:
- Covering assigned news beats
- Producing stories for weekly email newsletters and monthly print publication / digital edition
- Contributing to social media accounts
- Conducting phone and video interviews
- Occasional webcast and podcast hosting
- Posting stories, web updates, and videos to website
- Managing a revolving group of industry guest writers
- Leading layout of the publication
- Managing story budget
Position Qualifications:
Skills and competencies:
The ideal candidate will have five or more years of experience writing and reporting in a daily news setting. You should have a flair for writing and the desire to get the news first; demonstrated leadership qualities; a strong work ethic; excellent copy-editing skills; and InDesign experience. Business writing expertise and an understanding of the HME market are a plus.
Education:
- A bachelor’s degree in journalism, English or a closely related field is required.
