Proofreader – $50.00-$60.00/hour

Responsibilities
- Carefully review and edit a wide range of documents, including articles, reports, proposals, marketing materials, and technical manuals
- Ensure adherence to style guides such as the AP Stylebook and Chicago Manual of Style, maintaining consistency throughout all content
- Conduct thorough fact-checking to verify the accuracy of data, references, and claims within texts
- Collaborate with writers and editors to clarify content, improve readability, and enhance overall quality
- Perform research as needed to support fact-checking efforts or clarify complex topics
- Correct grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, punctuation issues, and formatting inconsistencies using word processing tools
- Maintain high standards of quality control while meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
- Proven experience in proofreading, copy editing, or editing roles with a strong portfolio demonstrating attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide constructive feedback effectively
- Strong writing skills with familiarity in creative writing, journalistic practices, technical writing, and proposal writing
- Deep understanding of AP style guidelines and the Chicago Manual of Style for professional editing
- Ability to research topics thoroughly and verify information accurately through credible sources
- Proficiency in word processing software and editing tools; experience with research databases is a plus
- Knowledge of copywriting principles and the ability to adapt tone for different audiences
- Prior experience in journalism or related fields is highly desirable
