About the Role
We are seeking a Formatter/Proofreader for a 12-month engagement based in Richmond, VA (remote). This role operates on an on-call, as-needed basis, with fluctuating weekly hours depending on business demand. Workload may vary from under 10 hours to up to 20 hours per week on average, with potential increases up to 30 hours during peak periods.
This position focuses on proofreading and formatting regulatory application sections, ensuring narrative consistency, grammatical accuracy, and adherence to ALCS style guidelines. The role also includes electronic formatting of documents, converting reference articles into publishable formats, and supporting manuscript preparation aligned with journal submission requirements.
Two positions may be filled based on distinct expertise requirements: one requiring strong proficiency in EndNote and the other in SharePoint. If a candidate demonstrates strong experience in both areas, only one position may be filled.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience
- Strong expertise in EndNote or SharePoint (one skill per role is required; both preferred)
- Experience proofreading regulatory application sections for narrative consistency, grammar, and punctuation
- Experience ensuring conformance to ALCS style guides
- Experience with electronic software formatting of regulatory application sections
- Experience converting reference articles into publishable formats
- Ability to work on an on-call, as-needed basis with fluctuating hours
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage workload variability
Qualifications:
- Expertise in formatting tools such as Starting Point or other formatting rulers/tools like Global Summit (preferred)
- Experience in training background and formatting scientific documents
- Experience meeting journal submission requirements for manuscripts
- Ability to work flexible hours with no guaranteed weekly workload
