Role Overview
As a Website Content Specialist, you’ll transform brand strategy into clear, compelling website content that drives clarity, trust, and conversion. You will own the content phase of each website project from research through final approval, and collaborate with a team to ensure every website is built on a strategically sound, message-first foundation.
Role Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth research using intake notes, brand strategy sessions, client materials, competitor analysis, SEO inputs, and industry context.
- Create page-by-page content plans based on the approved sitemap and brand strategy, defining the purpose and storytelling sequence for every page.
- Develop section-level outlines for each page to establish hierarchy, flow, and conversion-driven narrative structure.
- Write high-quality, conversion-focused website content that reflects the client’s voice and aligns with our strategic direction.
- Incorporate SEO best practices naturally into headlines and body copy without sacrificing clarity or readability.
- Collaborate with the Client Success Manager and Designer to inform UX decisions, layout hierarchy, and visual recommendations.
- Manage revisions efficiently by clarifying feedback, suggesting stronger alternatives, and updating drafts with precision and speed.
- Prepare polished, design-ready content decks ensuring consistent formatting, correct labeling (H1, H2, body), and clean structural organization.
- Maintain exceptional editorial quality: accuracy, tone, brand alignment, grammar, clarity, and internal consistency.
- Work within our 6-Stage Website Process and adhere to project timelines and quality standards.
- Communicate proactively with the CSM to provide updates, flag issues early, and keep content production moving smoothly.
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of professional writing experience, with direct experience leading content development for full website projects.
- A strong understanding of website structure and user psychology, including how to guide visitors through a clear, conversion-driven narrative using frameworks such as StoryBrand or similar.
- Tools: Google Workspace Suite. We use Teamwork as our project management system, training will be provided during onboarding.
- Portfolio: 3-5 Samples of previous website content strategy projects and the final websites that were produced from that work.
- Mindset: You are creative, detail-oriented, receptive to feedback, a proactive problem-solver, and passionate about helping small businesses succeed.
