Machinery & Technology Editor – $65,000 – $67,000 a year
Farm Journal maps the present and future of farming, food, technology and sustainability through the lens of 23 brands committed to every major agriculture and food production segment. Our brands generate 20 million monthly interactions across digital, video, radio and print sources. Farmers, ranchers, growers, packers, shippers and the industries that support them rely on Farm Journal brands to profitably grow their businesses. Its exclusive research and data insights are so powerful that it earned Farm Journal recognition as one of the most innovative companies in the country, according to Fast Company business magazine.
Two topics that cut across agriculture are the machinery and next-generation technologies that power America’s ranches and farms. From self-driving tractors and drones to the decisions and data behind buying used or new equipment to artificial intelligence and precision agriculture, machinery and new technologies are at the center of agricultural innovation.
Farm Journal seeks a creative and proactive journalist to tell the story of agricultural machinery and technology to America’s farmers, ranchers and growers. Do you love reporting on new technologies through the lens of what problems they’re trying to solve? Do you have a business-journalist mindset and find it exciting to explore the bottom-line impact of new innovations? Are you passionate about agriculture? Are you eager to set the agenda on a topic critical to one of the most important sectors of the U.S. economy? If you answered yes to any of those questions, consider this job.
Most of this journalist’s day will be finding the latest developments in ag tech or providing context on what’s happening in the machinery industry that cuts through the noise and empowers farmers, ranchers and growers to make better decisions for their operations. This reporter will also appear on Farm Journal’s nationally distributed podcasts, television and radio newscasts, and moderate or speak at our events.
This position also provides the opportunity to join a mission- and purpose-driven company with a great culture. Journalists at Farm Journal are not measured by how many “clicks” they get.
