North America Ski Writer for 2025/2026 Winter Season
OnTheSnow, the world’s most visited snow sports platform is looking for a freelance ski writer, with ski industry expertise, contacts, and first-hand knowledge of North America ski areas, for the 2025/2026 ski season.
This is a part-time seasonal, contract position, beginning in September and continuing through March. They’ll report to OnTheSnow’s senior editor, updating existing content and contributing several new articles per month, writing about ski resorts, on-mountain activities, gear and equipment, ski industry trends and news, après-ski, ski towns, and more. This isn’t so much a feature writing position, like writing for a magazine, as it is an associate or contributing writer position for one of the most visited snow sports websites in the world.
The ideal candidate has at least 3-4 years of experience writing for consumers in the ski industry, with a wide-range of experience writing about the ski travel experience in North America. They should be an experienced skier or snowboarder, and have existing contacts in the ski industry and feel comfortable reaching out to resorts for quotes, photos, and additional information. The ideal candidate should be familiar with WordPress, feel comfortable uploading articles to WordPress and adding links and header tags, editing/uploading photos and videos, and have some familiarity using AI in their workflow.
Responsibilities will include:
- Writing 4-5 new editorial articles per month (600-1,000 words)
- Uploading new articles to WordPress
- Writing occasional sponsored articles (approximately 1 per month)
- Speaking with ski resorts, athletes, and other industry professionals to fact check and gather information and quotes
- Liaising with ski resorts for photos and videos
- Attending regular editorial calls
- Sending article ideas to senior editor
- Updating 6-8 existing articles per month within WordPress
- Sourcing, editing, and uploading photos
