Contract Weddings Writer

The People Weddings team is looking for a writer to work closely with the Senior Editor, Weddings, to generate content for the website’s vertical. This will include a mix of writing and reporting, as well as managing exclusives, routine daily news and breaking news situations.

Assignment Details: 

40 hours a week

Start date: 9/26/2024

End date: 6 months with potential to extend

Hourly Rate: $35 

Location: Remote – US

Assignment Responsibilities:

  • Write and report unique and compelling digital stories, working cleanly and quickly under tight deadlines
  • The writer will be responsible for pitching ideas and writing 4-6 digital stories a day with precision, accuracy and impeccably clean copy
  • Regularly conduct interviews with celebrities and wedding industry professionals 
  • Source social media platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook for content opportunities and handle outreach and interviews 

Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism/Communications, Marketing, English or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience 
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience writing news stories, and comfortable working at an accelerated pace
  • Proficient across social media platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and Reddit 
  • A passion for the entertainment space is a must and experience covering breaking news is preferred 
  • Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to capture and effectively convey brand voice
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines and multitask at a fast pace
  • Energetic, well-organized, and proactive team player
  • Knowledge, experience, or interest in weddings and the wedding industry 
  • Applicants who share links of recent work (personal social, business, or portfolio) will be prioritized
