Senior Copy Editor (Remote) – $38 – 48 per hour

We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Senior Copy Editor to provide 6-12 months of support within our client’s Social Policy and Economics Research unit.

The Editor will play a crucial role in editing project deliverables related to government programs in the food and nutrition space, specifically focusing on initiatives that address food insecurity, nutrition assistance, and public health programs for vulnerable populations, such as SNAP and CHIP. 

Responsibilities:

  • Edit a wide range of project materials, including but not limited to concept map tables, meeting agendas and notes, final reports, data collection summaries, study and communication plans, dashboards, fact sheets, briefs, and resource guides.
  • Ensure all documents adhere to the highest editorial standards, emphasizing accuracy, consistency, and clarity.
  • Apply knowledge of GPO (Government Publishing Office) and APA style guidelines to maintain consistency across all project deliverables.
  • Collaborate with project teams to refine and improve content, providing constructive feedback and ensuring alignment with editorial standards.
  • Edit technical content, including statistical information, program management documentation, and technical assistance materials.
  • Meet tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and editorial quality.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors
  • 10+ years of dedicated, professional editing experience, preferably in research-based firms or industries that support public sector programs.
  • Proficiency in GPO and APA style guidelines.
  • Experience editing technical and programmatic content, particularly in the context of government programs related to food security, nutrition assistance, and public health.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the highest level of editorial standards.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Availability to provide work samples demonstrating relevant editing experience.​​​​​​​
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience editing materials with statistical information.
    • Familiarity with public sector programs and initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable groups.
