$1.4 Million Loot Stash: Cops Find Computers, Cars, Guns in LA Warehouse
Here’s another way to not make a living. Seriously, there are so many ways to make money online and offline. And yet, we read about people getting busted on a daily basis over crap they shouldn’t be doing.
Here’s your article retold in a friendly, conversational style with a bit of humor, while keeping all the details accurate:
So in Los Angeles, cops just pulled off what you could basically call a real-life episode of “Hoarders: Criminal Edition.” Eight people got arrested after authorities discovered about $1.4 million worth of stolen goods stacked up like it was Costco for crooks.
This whole thing started with a cargo theft investigation, and the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department’s Major Crimes Bureau-Cargo Criminal Apprehension Team (yeah, long name, but they call it CCATs) was on the case. On September 10, they rolled out with a search warrant for a property on Alameda Street.
When they got inside, it was like hitting the jackpot, but in the worst way. They found piles of Acer computers worth $1.4 million, seven stolen vehicles including a tractor, because apparently someone thought stealing a semi was a good idea. Plus an AK-47, an AR-15, a Smith & Wesson 9mm, and about two pounds of meth. Oh, and a 53-foot trailer just hanging out there.
Needless to say, eight suspects were arrested on the spot for cargo theft. The cops didn’t release their names, probably because the embarrassment alone is punishment enough. And the photos? They showed mountains of stolen boxes stacked high like some kind of illegal warehouse sale.
The Sheriff’s Department reminded everyone that CCATs’ mission is to cut down on cargo theft, catch the thieves, and give the stuff back to its rightful owners. Basically, they’re the Amazon Returns department of law enforcement.
If anyone has tips about cargo theft, LASD says you can give them a call at 562-946-7893. Or, you know, maybe don’t wait until someone’s hoarding a warehouse of stolen computers before you say something.
